W as going to include a video of someone snapping the steerer on their fork but they are all too gruesome. I got very lucky and came away from this uninjured. VERY LUCKY!!!!

Trying not to think about where and how I’ve ridden this bike recently that this could’ve occurred during at any point in time.

I’m obtrusively watermarking and employing a range of other tricks because of their greed

Handlebars are overrated...

The handlebars actually worked very well.  It was the connection between them and the wheel that I overrated the capabilities of.

I just watched a POV video of a guy breaking the steerer tube. I think his came unbonded from the fork crown when he hit a small pothole. He was very fortunate that he was well onto the shoulder when it happened and he didn’t do a faceplant. Y a know, his bike was blue too...

I’m glad to hear you weren’t hurt.

You and me both.  So happy I didn’t curse once when it happened or doing the walk of shame.

I’ve been over the bars plenty of times. The only one that really embarrassed me was caused by a chain skip when I was taking off from a stoplight. I was determined to get moving FAST, so I was standing on the pedals and cranking hard. I went over the bars and went splat in the middle of the intersection.

That, my friend, was a real walk of shame.
